Nakheel is one of the key, contributors towards the Government Procurement Program (GPP) and has awarded over AED 60 million in contracts to members of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders through the GPP up to date. The GPP was established in 2002 under a directive from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai in an initiative to support the economic growth of small and medium businesses sectors entering the local market. Dubai companies who have been awarded GPP contracts provide a range of services from advertising to general trading, and air cargo services to fashion design.
Nakheel’s philanthropic involvement in the GPP has legitimately supported the development and achievements of these select Dubai companies, in turn contributing further to Dubai’s already prosperous economy. The success of these companies is a revered testimony of the programme’s influence in nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit and developing businesses of the highest international caliber to compete in the world market.
Nakheel is an elaborate development corporation, notably the UAE’s largest property development company, and most renowned for its man-made waterfront development “The Palm”. Other divisions include Nakheel Retail (retail property development), Nakheel Asset Management (to manage its operations, infrastructure and community facilities), and Nakheel Travel (world-class travel agency).
