A young aspiring UAE businesswoman has proven herself in the predominantly male corporate business. Maryam who started her own small company Promoin in 2005 believes that there is still a long journey waiting for her in what she is planning to achieve.

As a member in Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Entrepreneurs Maryam feels so grateful to that establishment which has helped her build her name. She initiates her career as a leasing manager in shopping malls namely Reef Mall and Burjuman where she spent five years acquiring expertise and building her business skills and managerial knowledge in advertising and promotional fields.

Promoin is specialized in holding temporary promotional campaigns in most of the shopping malls all over UAE. It handles everything from securing the necessary space to the customer along with the stand and promoters. Even the training of the promoter is taken good care of by Promoin. It offers a complete package to the customer including permission from the Economic Department.

After promoting for du and many real estate companies in the Global Village Maryam is keeping her fingers crossed to deal with more companies.

“It is true my business is still small but we have achieved quite a lot in a very limited span of time. We have taken part in many awards across UAE namely Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Arab Management Award and the Shell Businesswomen Award”.

The young Emirati lady is sure the woman in UAE is capable of being an active part in society whether in the public or private sectors. “The presence of the UAE woman is felt everywhere and now we have 9 female members in the Federal National Council apart from the role the woman has been playing as minister. She should have patience, will and resolve to overcome the obstacles that she may face. She should also be a true leader to succeed but above all she must be smart to know how to seize the opportunities”.

Maryam has recently entered the media world and she is expected to host a TV show soon on a local channel. In the future she is planning to shift towards the Media City where she is planning to expand her business so it includes advertising activities of all kinds of events.

Maryam holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Information from Dubai Women’s College in 1999 and a diploma in Shopping Mall Management in 2005 and a diploma in Project Management in 2005.
