THE MIGRATION OF THE DOT COM ERA

Internet has taken the whole by surprise, from a small military base in the United states, to further develop the world wide web in CERN, switzerland, now we are all hooked. We breath, live, sleep through the internet, the internet has more publication than ** give an good statistics. If you think about, theoretically you could live your life by just clicking that mouse.

Since we all know Dubai keeps sprouting these buildings like vegetables , and every tom, dick and harry wants to own the biggest V8 in the market, traffic and congestion has been a nightmare, and apparently this dot com company claims to save the day..

Now lets get back to the point here, yes the internet is great, we love development blah blah blah,, but what is a dot com business doing here in Dubai,, and boy do i have the answer for you.

brownbag.ae is a Dubai based start up that delivers a heck of a lot of things under an hour. Now rumours claim that they only hire cafeïne junkie delivery guys and look for Umpa Lumpa look a likes  but after evident studies we found out that they parade the streets with orange colored scooters and round goggles.

A brush through their site shows you the core of their products which focus on 4 main categories; Food & beverages, Entertainment, Household products and electronics, but all of this is signed of with a funky color twist in the website. First lets start of with the cover page of brownbag, which depending on your luck has either godzilla, king kong, spiderman or other city scapers parading the Shk. Zayed skyline.  Within the site the color combo of green and orange gives the website the fresh look and an ease to browse through. An hour after you’ve placed your order, you’ll find a flashy orange runner knocking on the door honouring the timeline. I have to admit that you do get more than what you’ve ordered for with a funky brown box with a handle and a free magazine.. these guys are good.

We met with one of the co-founders Ahmed Bin Shabib at the flash orange coloured dispatch centre on sheikh zayed road to see what they are all about. First we met with the brownbag staff all cool and trendy keeping in line with the brownbag theme except for Ahmed; with his snazzy orange sandles and his white robe very much hands on with his team. The team gave us a quick tour through the place and we sat down and asked what they intend on doing with brownbag.ae “ We all go through the internet and shop, wether it  books, movies, electronics or any other, it just takes a substantial amount of time to get to you, and what we aim to do is offer our people that have congested schedules, people that face trouble commuting ect. the luxury of shopping through a vast variety of products and get it to their doorstep in under an hour” Ahmed commented, “ By offering an online store, we have the chance of cutting costs by low overhead, rentals ect.. and offer those rates to customers and try to gain a win win situation.”

After stuffing us with goodies and sweets, we went to our other trip to Virgin Mega Store a strategic partner for brownbag and met ...., marketing person Virgin Mega Store, to see what they thought of brownbag.ae

Dot com businesses have been popping up everywhere in the world, and they are always welcomed. The business caters to customers that do not have the luxury of time i.e mothers, business men and women, people commuting, students ect.. so why not one here in our own back yard. after our exploratory mission of brownbag, i can say with confidence, we are officially brownbaggers.
